Trinity Episcopal Church

Complete website redesign with custom integrations

Overview

A full redesign of Trinity Episcopal Church's website focused on modernizing the visual identity, improving content clarity, and creating a more intuitive experience for a diverse audience, all within the constraints of Squarespace.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Web designer and consultant
  • Visual design and layout
  • Content structure and planning
  • Custom HTML and CSS implementation
  • Mobile optimization
  • Custom icons and imagery

Challenge

The existing website was outdated and visually inconsistent with an overwhelming amount of content that was difficult for users to navigate. The church staff wanted a more cohesive design and a clearer structure that would be accessible to users of varying ages and technical comfort levels. Additionally, I needed to manage client expectations while offering viable solutions for their wants and needs, all within the confines of Squarespace.

Approach

I met weekly with church staff to align on creative vision, user needs, and pain points from the previous site. Working within Squarespace's limitations, I helped define what was and wasn't possible on the platform, then used custom HTML and CSS to extend functionality and bring key design ideas to life.

I restructured the site's content and therefore sitemap, prioritizing clarity and navigation ease. Key pages, such as the homepage and staff page, were redesigned first to establish the brand's identity and general layout for the rest of the site. I gave special attention to mobile responsiveness to ensure a seamless experience across devices.

Outcome

The redesigned website delivered a clean and modern look with improved usability and intuitive navigation. The client was extremely pleased with the final result, especially with the overhauled visual appeal, content organization, and ease of use for users of all ages on all devices.
